After more than 150 years after its establishment, the Associação Naval de Lisboa (ANL) is still the big propeller of nautical events in our country. The Lisboa Classic Regatta is definitely a great example, bringing once again to Portugal one of the World's oldest sports competitions.

Held since 1828, the regatta that puts the famed British universities of Oxford and Cambridge face to face is one of the major sports events in the world - with over one million people attending. From the Thames, where the original regatta is held, to the Tagus the scenery changes but the excitment and greatness are kept.

Demanding perfect matching between all the crew members, Rowing is a sport that's been on the Olympic program ever since, and long part of the capital's scenery. The Lisboa Classic Regatta is raced in traditional boats, the "Yolle", both in crews of four and eight. It's the latter one that tops the regatta program, with the awaited Oxford-Cambridge-Associação Naval de Lisboa race.
